Pluto TV UK Integration
The goal of this project was to research and design for an integration between Pluto TV and My5 in the UK. Both entities are owned by Paramount and combining the two providers is slated to increase profits substantially. There is a core strategy of internationalization at Pluto TV and the UK streaming user base has been found to be particularly attractive in terms of their interest in a free ad-supported streaming solution.

My role in this project included the entire product design process from ideation sessions to summative usability testing. I worked alongside cross-functional colleagues in product, design, research and technology to meet the deadlines and move the concepts forward.

Problem Space
In the UK there is an existing Pluto TV user base and an existing My5 user base. These groups of individuals differ in some ways such as their streaming habits and content consumption. The goal of this project is to bring the My5 users into the Pluto TV ecosystem and expose them to the additional content that is available. Migrating these registered users is a major challenge as they are often older individuals who are consuming content via set top boxes and will be required to use technology such as QR codes to migrate. One of the goals was to present a registration view that was clear and concise for these users. Another goal was simply to produce a navigation paradigm that was functional and clear.
Ideation
I led frequent discussions and workshops with leadership across design and product to determine the direction we should go in for the merger. I also led ideation sessions with designers in other parts of the Paramount business and interacted with consumers in the UK to learn about their streaming needs and experiences.
Create Wireframes and Review with Stakeholders
There is also a concept of a broadcast hub which features all My5 content. This allows existing My5 users to get acclimated and familiar with the navigation patterns.
Once the stakeholders and leadership were aligned on the wireframes, I produced full-scale prototypes in Figma for usability testing
As mentioned before, clear and concise registration and migration views were necessary in order to convert existing My5 users over to Pluto TV. My goal with these views was to properly market the integration and provide a simple call to action.
Final Designs & Impact
The final designs integrated all of the stakeholder insights and user feedback across all platforms (TV, desktop web, mobile web, mobile apps, and gaming devices). They include concepts for the full feature set of the product including a personalized homepage, a broadcast hub, a live content view and a video on-demand view.
The project, upon dev completion, will bring in millions of new Pluto TV subscribers from My5. Post launch we will review metrics on registration and conduct A/B testing on a few different concepts.
